Rainbow Review and Comparison: Tangle Teezer: Original vs Macadamia Natural Oil: No Tangle Brush

Hi Rainbow Readers :)

I did quite a bit of online shopping in the past couple of weeks, so I have some stuff to share. I am going to review/compare the Tangle Teezer and Macadamia Natural Oil no tangle brushes, since I just received them.

I heard about the Tangle Teezer on You Tube and then did some hunting and watched and read reviews and decided it was worth a try. I got both of the brushes off of Beauty Bay http://www.beautybay.com/ with free international shipping, which always makes me so happy! I got both of them because I couldn't choose between the two and figured I could use one for travel and one for at home. I find reviews very helpful when deciding on whether I should make a purchase or not. I couldn't find an in-depth, direct comparison between these two brushes, so that is why I am writing this post to help others. I will put the links for each brush, pricing and pictures below.

Review/Comparison

First impression: Both are very similar and work very well to detangle with hardly any pulling of the hair.

Handle: Macadamia brush has a bit of a handle, while the Tangle Teezer does not.

Design: Both are comfortable to hold even though the Tangle Teezer does not have a handle. I can only see that being a problem for extremely tangled or thick and hard to manage hair, but for normal brushing for me, it is fine. I also noticed that these brushes seem to be designed for right handed people and I am left handed, so that is kind of annoying and also sometimes one switches hands while brushing (am I right?), so it won't fit in the contours of your hand properly if you're left handed or switch hands. The bristles are quite similar, Tangle Teezer's are thinner, shorter and a little closer together compared to Macadamia. I don't find that either scratch or irritate my scalp, it would only really irritate with repeated brushing of the same section close to the scalp.

Colour: Tangle Teezer has colour options while the Macadamia only comes in a green and taupey colour, which is not unpleasant at all, but I do prefer the colour of my pink Tangle Teezer :).

Do they work as they claim: YES they both detangle the hair with minimal pulling and I noticed a difference the first time I tried them, how much gentler and smoother they run through the hair than my standard brush.

Price: Tangle Teezer is $14.90 USD, Macadamia is $12.60 USD (on beautybay.com).

Concluson: I think I like the Tangle Teezer a bit better it seems to feel a bit smoother to me and the colour is a big plus in my books! I will definitely be using both and just keep the Macadamia for travel and Tangle Teezer at home.
