NOTD and Rainbow Review: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear: Lacy Lilac

Hi Rainbow Readers! I just painted my nails one of my all time favourite nail colours and wanted to share my thoughts on it.
No flash in normal light. It actually looks brighter in person.

With flash. Also, this picture still doesn't do it justice, o well you'll just have to take my word for it ;)
This colour just makes me happy and I get excited putting it on lol. It is probably my favourite nail colour to wear because it isn't too bright or dull it just looks pretty. It is AMAZING nail polish especially for drug store because some are crap. It isn't expensive, I usually get mine at Wal-Mart for around $3.

The consistency is wonderful and thick enough to cover, but not gloopy. It is such a dream to apply and I usually only need 1 coat! The brush makes it easy to apply with barely any mistakes (depending on how careful I wanna be). It doesn't even need a top-coat! It dries fast too! I've also had mine for over a year and the consistency hasn't gotten dry or weird to apply.

Tell me what you think of this nail polish if you have it or if you want to try it!

Thanks for stopping by :).

Rainbow Review: Garnier: Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream

Hello Rainbow Readers! Today I am going to write a review for the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream.
Moisture Rescue Dry Skin Moisturizer - Face Care

Let me start off by saying, I love this product! I have used it for almost 2 years and have purchased 3 or 4 jars of it. I use the dry skin version, so the pink one (the colour doesn't hurt ;)). There is also a green one, which I got my sister and mom using and they seem to like it too, and I have tried that one as well. I will switch over to the green one for summer, because I don't need as much moisturization. In the winter my skin is very dehydrated, plus I have acne, so I am always using some sort of drying acne treatments.

Why I love it

1. It has a nice gel consistency, sometimes with gels they are not moisturizing enough because they are too light, this feels light on the skin but is still moisturizing.

2. It moisturizes very well, as I said, I have acne, so I use benzoyl peroxide, which can make your skin flaky and dry. This moisturizer subsides that and makes my skin feel soft.

3. It doesn't leave any sticky or heavy residue on the skin, as it is a gel.

4. It is easy to apply because it is not thick or sticky, it applies smoothly.

5. It works great under makeup, the green version actually says that on the box.

6. It doesn't break me out and doesn't make me oily.

7. It isn't very expensive, it's around $10 and I usually get mine at Wal-Mart.

Cons

1. It doesn't have SPF, which could be a good thing because it does usually make products have a different formula. This doesn't bother me too much because I usually wear makeup outside and my face doesn't get any sun when I'm wearing makeup (with SPF 15), seriously it seems to block everything. When I'm not using makeup I will use a moisturizer with SPF or just put SPF 15 sunscreen on.

2. In an ideal world, I would like to use chemical free and more natural products and also products that don't test on animals. This is my only downfall for this product and it makes me feel guilty. I only use this in the morning though, at nighttime I use Tamanu Oil as my moisturizer, which is 100% natural and cruelty free :).

Here is a link to it on Garnier's website:

Rainbow Review and Comparison: Tangle Teezer: Original vs Macadamia Natural Oil: No Tangle Brush

Hi Rainbow Readers :)

I did quite a bit of online shopping in the past couple of weeks, so I have some stuff to share. I am going to review/compare the Tangle Teezer and Macadamia Natural Oil no tangle brushes, since I just received them.

I heard about the Tangle Teezer on You Tube and then did some hunting and watched and read reviews and decided it was worth a try. I got both of the brushes off of Beauty Bay http://www.beautybay.com/ with free international shipping, which always makes me so happy! I got both of them because I couldn't choose between the two and figured I could use one for travel and one for at home. I find reviews very helpful when deciding on whether I should make a purchase or not. I couldn't find an in-depth, direct comparison between these two brushes, so that is why I am writing this post to help others. I will put the links for each brush, pricing and pictures below.

Review/Comparison

First impression: Both are very similar and work very well to detangle with hardly any pulling of the hair.

Handle: Macadamia brush has a bit of a handle, while the Tangle Teezer does not.

Design: Both are comfortable to hold even though the Tangle Teezer does not have a handle. I can only see that being a problem for extremely tangled or thick and hard to manage hair, but for normal brushing for me, it is fine. I also noticed that these brushes seem to be designed for right handed people and I am left handed, so that is kind of annoying and also sometimes one switches hands while brushing (am I right?), so it won't fit in the contours of your hand properly if you're left handed or switch hands. The bristles are quite similar, Tangle Teezer's are thinner, shorter and a little closer together compared to Macadamia. I don't find that either scratch or irritate my scalp, it would only really irritate with repeated brushing of the same section close to the scalp.

Colour: Tangle Teezer has colour options while the Macadamia only comes in a green and taupey colour, which is not unpleasant at all, but I do prefer the colour of my pink Tangle Teezer :).

Do they work as they claim: YES they both detangle the hair with minimal pulling and I noticed a difference the first time I tried them, how much gentler and smoother they run through the hair than my standard brush.

Price: Tangle Teezer is $14.90 USD, Macadamia is $12.60 USD (on beautybay.com).

Concluson: I think I like the Tangle Teezer a bit better it seems to feel a bit smoother to me and the colour is a big plus in my books! I will definitely be using both and just keep the Macadamia for travel and Tangle Teezer at home.

I got mine here:

Hope this helps and thanks for reading!

Fashion Find: Talula AKASAKA Jacket | Aritzia

I just wanted to share a recent purchase of mine, to maybe help others decide if they want this piece or just want some information on it (sizing, price etc.).

Talula AKASAKA Jacket | Aritzia in SKYLIGHT

So I was browsing online, as I do, and I came across this jacket on Aritzia’s website. I probably wouldn’t have been interested if the display picture was in any of the other colours. I just had to check it out because the colour is just my type (pastel duh). I sat on the idea and price for a while before getting it because I really didn't want to spend that much, but in the end I caved and I think I will get a lot of use out of it, starting tomorrow!

The brand is Talula. It is $120, which is on the pricey side, especially for what it is, but I justified getting it because one can always use another spring/summer jacket.  It can be layered over a sweater or worn on its own. I love the pastel blue colour and military style.  I got it in a size small, it fits loosely with room for a thin sweater underneath (I am not petite by any means so if you are, I suggest going even smaller). I got it in the colour "skylight". I went to the store after I saw it online to see if they had it in stock because I am not a fan of paying for shipping. They didn’t have the colour in-store, but I tried on the same style to find my size. Then they ordered it in for me from the warehouse, you just have to prepay and it takes 5-7 days to get delivered to the store for you to pick up. So fast forward 5 days and I now have my new jacket! Picture below is me with it on (not a very good picture, but for the purpose of showing the jacket, will do).

If you watch Pretty Little Liars Ali is wearing a similar style jacket in a charcoal grey colour in the season finale episode "A is for Answers". I tried searching for which jacket she was wearing, but couldn't find it. It could very well be the same jacket. I saw the jacket on Aritzia first and then recognized it while watching the show. And obviously if it's on PLL you know it's pretty fashionable, so that made me slightly even more excited that I decided to get it.

Let me know if you have this jacket and how you like it and if you know what brand the jacket Ali from PLL is wearing.

Thanks for reading! Cheers!

My First Blog and About Me

Hi cupcakes! My name is Serena, I'm 23 years young  and this is my first blog ever, exciting! I have a lot of things to say and would consider most of it interesting, hence why I have decided to start writing it down on this blog. I avidly search Google and rely on other peoples opinions and blog posts to decide on things I would like to buy, items of interest and information on, well...everything. So I thought it would be a good idea if I contribute to the blogging world with some of my lovely input. I will share some of my hobbies and interests below and will definitely be talking about some of these things in the near future, so look out! Here goes...

About Me

My favourite colour is pink (generally), but I love me any pastel colour. I'm Canadian and proud, but I do get sick of winter very fast. I love my car, a little too much. I love Tinkerbell, she's so cute, but has a little sass. I love food, once again, probably too much. I am interested in health, fitness and nutrition and know quite a fair share regarding a healthy life style (if only I followed it all of the time). I like tattoos and piercings, I have 5 small tattoos and 14 piercings (sounds like a lot, but 11 in my ears, nose, tongue and belly button). I live at home with my parents, little brother and sister (not so little anymore) and doggie. I have a boyfriend (saint for putting up with me and vice versa). I went to Seneca College and have two diplomas, Law Clerk and Paralegal. I have my Paralegal License, but am not practicing. I work as a Law Clerk for a sole practitioner and I do like it. I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and I hated that. I love the summer and hot weather (you won't hear me complaining when it's 40 degrees out) and swimming and sunning at the beach or a cottage. I like being outdoors and enjoy nature, except bugs, could do without them. I love animals more than people, so I do not eat them (but eat their food haha) and am completely against any sort of animal cruelty, I try whenever possible to purchase cruelty free, it is a conscious, ongoing effort. I am slowly transitioning to more natural products. I love music and dancing. I love makeup, jewelry, clothing and fashion, purses, shoes (of course), hair, nail polish, shopping and all that girly girl sort of stuff. I also like to complain about things that don't quite tickle my fancy, so if you like a good rant every once in a while, definitely stay tuned. I watch a lot of TV series', so if you're looking for little tidbits about different shows then you probably won't mind reading what I have to say about them, if you have similar tastes. I swear quite often, so if you're easily offended by profanity probably stay away (mostly in rants, probably not in a blog about 'fucking makeup'). I'm very sarcastic and have a sexual sense of humour (wouldn't consider myself a creep though). I can be socially awkward, often, so drinking does help with that

I think that makes a pretty detailed introduction to start off my blog and get to know me. I didn't realize I could write so much about myself, but I guess that's the point. I hope someone finds me sort of interesting and would want to continue reading. Thanks for reading and I hope you will stick around!
